Annual Action Plan 2012-2013

Work Programme for the Society for the year 2012-13.

 

01. Publication of Quarterly Bulletin & monthly Newsletters for WBSEPS:

Quarterly Bulletins containing the information relating to export and import and also the list of prospective buyers will be published for the quarter ending June, September, December, 2012 and March, 2013.

Monthly Newsletters containing the export information and list of buyers will be published for the month of July, August, October, November, 2012, January & February, 2013.

02. Preparation of 4th and 5th Volume of Overseas Buyers’ Directory:

First, Second and Third Volume of Overseas Buyers’ Directory have already been published. Fourth and Fifth Volume of Overseas Buyers’ Directory will be published during the current financial year.

03. Development of Export Oriented Crafts Cluster:

Based on the demand and trade queries received from the buyers of different countries, a few clusters have been identified for promotion of such products on cluster basis with the assistance from the State and Central Govt. It has been decided to take up the artificial jewellery products of Santiniketan and stone curving Cluster at Belpahari in paschim Midnapur. It has been planned to implement different programmes relating to skill development, design development and market promotion by the West Bengal State Export Promotion Society during the current financial year for two clusters.

04. Preparation of Photo Identity Card:

Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts). Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India has entrusted the work of preparation of photo identity cards for the handicrafts artisans of West Bengal to the West Bengal State Export Promotion Society. WBSEPS has already prepared about 2,19,146 photo ID Cards for the artisans of West Bengal. Photo ID Cards for another 71,126 artisans are under preparation. A target has been fixed to prepare photo identity cards for all the handicraft artisans working in West Bengal. On behalf of the office of the Dev. Commissioner (Handicraft) Govt. of India. DIC / Sub-DIC-wise target have been fixed and the concerned offices have been informed.

05.Export Awareness Workshop:

It has been planned to organize at least six Export Awareness Programmes covering all the districts of West Bengal during the current financial year in collaboration with FIEO. Proposed programmes for the year 2012-2013 are given below:

b. Participation in International Trade Fair:

Proposal has been submitted to the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts) for participation in two International Trade Fairs i.e. in the Indian Home Furnishing Fair, Osaka, Japan from 25th – 27th July, 2012 and International Autumn Fair at Birmingham, U.K. from 2nd – 5th September, 2012. Like previous participation the major cost of participation including TA/DA etc. of one officer will be met out of the grants to be received from the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts) and cost of additional space, carrying cost of additional exhibits, TA/DA of one officer will be borne out of WBSEPS fund in case of approval of the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India in these two International Trade Fairs.  

c. Participation in Fairs & Exhibitions by WBSEPS outside West Bengal during 2012-13:

Decision has been taken to organize Bengal Handicrafts Fair at Shilpi Haat at Baba Kharak Sing Marg in New Delhi from 1st – 15th June, 2012. Space has been allotted by the office of the D. C. (H), Govt. of India free of cost. 50 artisans/ handloom societies will participate in the fair. A proposal has been submitted to the MSSE&T Department for grant of administrative approval for participation in the following fairs outside West Bengal during the current financial year:

10.   Cluster Development Programme

It may be approved for working of WBSEPS as Implementing Agency in respect of all the Clusters to be approved / sanctioned by the Govt. of West Bengal and the Govt. of India. Necessary order has already been issued by the Department of MSSE&T, Govt. of West Bengal. WBSEPS has been working as fund raising and disbursing agency for implementation of MSECDP according to the instruction of the MSSE&T Deptt., Govt. of West Bengal since 2006. Now order has been issued for working as Implementing Agency in respect of all the clusters to be set up under this scheme which is placed for approval.
